My espresso machine steam or no milk foam?

I have a combo coffee / coffee maker and I've been trying to make a decent cappuccino but have had no luck so far. I make my coffee and then flip the switch mounted espresso and wait for it to warm and then turn the steam knob, but if the steam out of everything that comes from the espresso drip .. not the foam device or even the steam pipe. I have tried to steam the milk without making explicit the first but not the same thing happens. Any advice?

If you have a warranty, then call the manufacturer and ask them to send a new one. If not, you probably just bought a brand new, because I'm not really a "fixer" when it comes to these things, I'm more of a play "around with it and then get angry when my solution does not work and then hit him with a bat "type of person.
