How to keep busy in the minutes between the orders?

I just started a new job at a local coffee shop and I am very happy. The problem is that the boss is very difficult, and hates when people stand around and scream if people see it. There are lots of prices to memorize, so I feel very overloaded already. Since I am new, I'm not familiar with all the busywork that should fill the minutes between the resolutions of the drink, and nobody seems to want to tell me all the things to do in downtime. So if I'm there for 10 seconds or less brainstorming on things to do, then the boss thinks that I'm standing around and will yell at me. The only things I've been told is how cups of stock, filling the mills espresso, and clean things up. Any ideas of what else needs to be done in a cafe enough that I'm screaming? Obviously I will learn with time and experience, and I will not stand around once I know the ropes, but until then I have only to find ideas! Anyone?

I've been in food service and bar management for 15 years. There is a very old adage in this industry ...... Time to failure food, clean. Just look busy. Clean and actions.
